Privacy and cookies
Last updated 27 October 2026
IrishWeather.ie is run by Jcon Technologies in Ireland. This page explains what information the site and its partners collect when you visit, and the choices you have.
What the site itself stores
- Your last town. The site remembers the last place you looked at in your browser's local storage, so it opens there next time. It never leaves your device.
- Your location, only if you ask. If you press the ๐ button, your browser shares your position so the site can show the nearest forecast. It is used for that request only and is not stored.
- Searches. Place names you search for are sent to our server, and less common ones to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, to find the place. We don't link them to you.
Visitor counts
We count visits with GoatCounter. It sets no cookies and does not track you across sites. It records the page visited, the referring site, and your browser, screen size and country in anonymous totals.
Advertising
The site is paid for by ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure results and prevent fraud. With your consent, they may also use them to show ads based on your interests and on your visits to this and other websites.
- Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before any of this happens. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for things like fraud prevention and frequency limits where the law allows.
- You can change your choice at any time with the button below.
- Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and manage personalised ads in Google's ad settings.
Weather and map data
Your browser loads map tiles and map software directly from OpenFreeMap, Amazon Web Services and unpkg.com, and radar images from the radar provider. Like any website, these services see your IP address when they send files to you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because the site itself keeps nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing to hand over, but we're happy to help. For data held by Google, use the links above. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission.
